Spectroscopy and Stochiometry

This is the first of two 'virtual' labs you will do this semester. The purpose of these experiment is to get 'more out of' the time spend in lab. Sometimes the procedure for an experiment is so simple, that time is better spend analyzing data and systems instead of manipulating equipment.

LAB THIS WEEK IS NOT IN OUR NORMAL LAB ROOM.

The lab report for this lab will NOT be any sortof 'report'. You will be given a sheet with a series of questions onit. You will turn in that sheet along with associated graphs and calculations. This lab is only worth 15 points total.

Before lab (as part your prelab exercise) you need to go to this site and walk through this page. You might also want to read about Beer's Law. The 'rest' of the lab will be available when you come to lab.

Pre-lab questions (on a separate piece of recycled paper)

1. Calculate the transmittance and the absorbance of the 'unknown' in the virtual experiment (from above) show appropriate calculations.

2. What properties does Beer's law coorelate?
